ISA 1932 Nozzle

ISA 1932 nozzle is a throttling flow device with rounded inlet and cylindrical outlet. Due to its construction it is more resistant to long-term heat and pressure stress. In most cases the nozzle body is welded into piping, it is so-called weld-in design or, it is embedded between the flanges. Design of the nozzle welded in the piping contains straight lengths of piping downstream the nozzle. Welded embedding in piping has the advantage of material savings on the flanges and subsequently minimized leakage in the flanged joint. For pressures up to PN 100 it is recommended to place the nozzle between the flanges.

Differential pressure tapping can be chamber or individual. Due to technology of the nozzle production chamber tapping is used for nominal diameters DN 50 up to DN 80, individual tapping is used for nominal diameters DN 100 up to DN 500. Upon agreement with customers differential pressure outlets are always customized to various options of primary element attachment to measuring circuit.

ISO 5167-3 standard defines possibility to use ISA 1932 nozzles for diameters of piping ranging from 50 mm to 500 mm. For the production of nozzles there are mostly used combinations of carbon and stainless steels for measurement of fluid flow (standard version) and refractory steels for measurement of steam flow. Range of steels used for the production of nozzles is wide and except for nowadays commonly used alloyed steels 14MoV6-3/15 128, 10CrMo9-10/11CrMo910, 13CrMo4-5 or 16Mo3 there are widely used X10CrMoVNb9-1, X10CrWMoVNb9-2 and 15NiCuMoNb5 materials.

ISA 1932 nozzle is manufactured either as a working meter or, as a specified meter with metrological verification complying with the technical particulars and conditions of pattern approval.

ISA 1932 nozzle has a great advantage of high operational reliability and usability in measurement of fluid, gas and steam flow, including highly overheated water steam.

Nozzles are especially suitable for use in the high-pressure part of boiler systems and distribution (high-pressure steam, feed water). ISA 1932 nozzle can also be used at the end of piping as an inlet nozzle for the flow measurement of suction (intake) from open space. Nozzle can be embedded both in vertical and horizontal piping.
